September 24, 2006Greetings from Bolzano/Bozen
Hello everyone! I know it has been two whole months since I produced any commentary, but I have been on the move. What else is new?

After classes ended I headed to Sardinia for some rest and relaxation alla Alice. Sardinia was amazing, gorgeous, and I would go back in a heartbeat. The first week was in Villasimius in the company of my now former roomies (sigh...) Alice and Franci. The second week was camping in Cala Gonone with Luis. Both parts of the island were fabulous and yet very different. Check out the pictures.

After returning to Rovereto where I was bumming at friend's house, I noticed the prices post London terrist attempts were quite tempting. With two weeks free before moving to Bolzano and no idea when I would be able to enjoy my Wisconsin fans again, I seized the moment and headed home for two whole weeks. It was nice. I even ate big juicy American steaks and corn on the cob. yummy.

On September 9 I headed back to the "old country". or at least i tried. after 7 hours of a delayed flight and mecchanical problems, my flight from philadelphia to munich was cancelled and i had to take a flight out the following day for venice, with barely enough time to sleep and get ready for my first day at the internship.

On September 11, I started my internship with Dott. Antonio Lampis in the Ripatizione di Cultura Italiana della Provincia Autonoma di Bolzano. Well, in short it is kind of like the cultural affairs office. So I am working on several local cultural projects and there is also a new art museum in the works. I'm already in my third week now...and things are going quite well.

I have just found a place to live and so things are finally coming together (after living in three different places with three different people with my stuff sprawled out over three different cities....). Bolzano is a great city on the Austrian/Italian border and is quite a complex mixture of Italian and South Tyrolean cultures and languages. In fact, it is a bilingual place....with everything written in Italian and German. It is difficult to describe, but just take my word for it....it gets pretty crazy!

Well, I'm off to race to the grocery store before they all close at 7:00...no comment!

More updates to come soon!
